Where is Doc Martin filmed in Cornwall?

Cornwall has to be one of the most idyllic and attractive counties in the country. Cornwall has been the film location for TV's favourite Doc Martin for many years and guests at our Cornwall holiday sites cannot wait to explore the place where the grouchy doctor set up his Cornish practise.

So where is Doc Martin filmed in Cornwall? Doc Martin is set in the fictional sleepy village of Portwenn but is filmed in the Cornish seaside village of Port Isaac on the North Cornwall coast. Holiday makers can walk the familiar cobbled streets, seek out the Doctor's house and surgery on Roscarrock Hill - although you can't actually go inside, you can get a brilliant selfie outside.

Much of the appeal about Doc Martin is the beautiful Cornish landscape and the best place to see these views are in and around Port Gaverne, which is frequently used for outdoor shots during filming. The small cove is enclosed by rocky cliffs and a peaceful three mile round walk takes in the stunning cliff tops between Port Gaverne and Port Isaac. 

You can also visit Doyden Castle in Port Quin, known as Pentire Castle in Doc Martin, which is positioned high on the cliffs a couple of miles from Port Isaac. The castle has been the location of many memorable scenes in the TV series, particularly the finale of series five.
